"If we get a government that reflects more of what this country is really about, we can turn the century--and the economy--around."

TIME MAGAZINE SALUTES BELLA ABZUG FOR HER LIFELONG DEDICATION TO HELPING WOMEN IN POLITICS BREAK BARRIERS

We all loved Hilary Clinton’s announcement that SHE will be seeking the democratic nomination for president.  In her patriotic and energizing two-minute video released this Sunday, we see Americans from across the country sharing widely diverse anecdotes of their lives; all with a uniting theme of courage and pride in community. Over the past few days, Ms. Clinton has stated that she is campaigning for the people of a larger community, the “everyday Americans” that keep the American community thriving.

Hilary Clinton built her political life and fight for Women and Human Rights around the world on the support and open pathways paved for her by many women before her time, especially her mentor and friend, Bella Abzug.

“behind every great woman is another great woman, and behind Clinton—and, really, every woman who has run for U.S. political office in the last four decades—is Bella Abzug.”

Upon Hilary’s announcement, Time Magazine rightfully paid tribute to our namesake, “Battling Bella,” acknowledging that she and other women of her generation formed fundamental organizations to ensure women break through the glass ceiling in politics, such as the National Women’s Political Caucus.

We can only wonder where Ms. Clinton learned that is the strength and conviction of “Everyday Americans” for making America prosperous?
