What is Millie King Entrepreneurship Program?

The Millie King Entrepreneurship Program (MKEP) at BALI is a cutting-edge, 3 day entrepreneurship training program that is offered every summer at our program offices at Hunter College. We have created this program in honor of Millie King, mother of long-time BALI supporter, trainer and mentor, Kathleen King - Kathleen is the founder of Tate’s Bake Shop, a multi-million dollar bakery production and catering company that she started in her kitchen, on her family’s farm in Long Island, New York at the age of sixteen.

In collaboration with Kathleen and with the support of the Kathleen King Charitable Fund, BALI has been able to offer a FREE 3 day entrepreneurship training program to BALI alumna, high school seniors and older, for the past 3 years.

Quick facts:

  • MKEP is offered exclusively to BALI alumni

  • MKEP is open only to High School seniors and college students

  • MKEP is offered every year, last week of July or first week of August and applications are usually open by March.

  • MKEP consists of a series of workshops on small business strategy, social entrepreneurship, brand marketing including digital and social media ,financial structuring, “one for one” company models lectures and seminars led by some of the most successful entrepreneurs and professionals who work in the area of small businesses, nonprofits, and corporate social responsibility.

  • Accomplished professional women and men from all sectors will train and mentor our students by offering them critical business planning skills and guidance needed to grow as dynamic 21st century entrepreneurial visionaries.

Who should apply?

BALI alumni who are in or entering their senior year in High School and or already in college

BALI alumni who are passionate about entrepreneurship and see themselves starting or have already started their own business and or nonprofit
